City Libraries’ huge end-of-year book sale

19 November 2004

City Libraries’ huge end-of-year book sale begins on Friday (26 Nov)

The main hall at Pioneer Stadium in Lyttelton Street will be all action next weekend as bargain-hunters swoop on the annual Christchurch City Libraries book sale. It’s the third time the popular end-of-year sale has been held at the City Council leisure centre in Spreydon. Last year’s sale drew large crowds.

Libraries collections manager, Lindsay Dell, says the sale is a great way to make Christmas shopping easy and inexpensive.

“We’ll have thousands and thousands of tapes, CDs, magazines, talking books, and, yes, books for sale, all in good order and all for sale for at most $3 each, with children’s books ranging from 50 cents to $1,” he says. This year’s sale, at the Pioneer Stadium on Lyttelton Street in Spreydon, begins on Friday, 26 December, at 9am. The doors are open until 7pm, and on Saturday from 9am to 4pm. There are about 45,000 items for sale.

Last year’s book sale was a great success, with 38,000 books and other items to choose from.
