Change to Karangahape Road bus lane

24 November 2004

Change to Karangahape Road bus lane

From today, citybound motorists driving along Karangahape Road will notice a change to the bus lane east and west of Day Street.

The section east of Day Street has been extended by 50 metres making it more accessible for buses. The section west of Day Street has been removed, allowing for more parking.

The added section will stop parked cars causing delays for buses accessing the lane.

The change will improve bus travel times along Karangahape Road in peak traffic and benefit cyclists, who are able to bypass traffic queues by using the lane.

Auckland City’s previous transport committee approved the change to the bus lane in June 2004.
