Summer On The Lawn Series For Your Entertainment

Summer On The Lawn Series For Your Summer Entertainment

Manukau City Council is pleased to announce the commencement of another 'Summer on the Lawn' series each Sunday at the Nathan Homestead, Manurewa commencing on Sunday 13 February for 4 weeks through to 6 March. Showcasing quality entertainment, this free series is a great way to round out a summer weekend.

On Sunday 13 February be entranced by 'Soul on the Lawn with Betty Anne and Friends'. Betty Anne, a soul singer of note, has been a key figure on the New Zealand music scene for many years; she has also worked extensively in Australia, is the voice behind countless television and radio jingles and has toured nationally and internationally with her show.

Nominated four times at the New Zealand Music Awards for Female Vocalist of the year - she won the award in 1999. Sophisticated and in a class of their own, Betty and her group will present a laid back very palatable sound consisting of classic songs from the 70's through to the present day.

The following week on Sunday 20 February be captivated by Fiona Ferens with her 'Showstoppers on the Lawn' accompanied by Opera North. Fiona, who performs regularly throughout New Zealand, has performed in Italy with the Orchestra Filarmonica di Genova and the Orchestra da Camera di Messina of Sicily, and toured New Caledonia for three years with the New Zealand Chamber Orchestra and in 2004 with the Auckland Youth Orchestra.

She is a familiar face on television here singing numerous national anthems before international sporting fixtures. The singer has been credited with a warm tone, flexibility and beautiful phrasing which holds the audience spellbound.

Bring along your picnic basket and blanket and be inspired and enthralled by these performances right on your doorstep at the beautiful Nathan Homestead, which provides a perfect backdrop to 'Summer on the Lawn' 2005.
