Gisborne Fun Run and Walk in aid of Tsunami Victims

A Fun Run and Walk jam packed with spot prizes is being held this Saturday to help raise funds for victims still struggling with the after affects of the Boxing Day Asian Tsunami.

Organised by Children's Ward health care assistant Catherine Moore with support from Gisborne District Council and Tairawhiti District Health, the Fun Run and Walk will start at 9am on Saturday 12 February at the A and P Showgrounds.

Donations for entering the 5km or 10km fun run or walk will be channelled to those who need it through registered charities.

Catherine, who spends her time looking after sick children in Gisborne Hospital says she is passionate about this cause.

"I look after people who are ill, who have less than others, and need to be supported. It made me think that if we don't continue with fundraising for tsunami victims - children and young ones over there may soon find themselves unsupported."

Catherine reminded Fun Runners and Walkers to bring their sun screen and sun hats. She promises a fun morning out for the whole family, dozens of spot prizes, and a chance to do something for someone less fortunate than yourself.
