Impact assessment conference on next week

Planning for climate change, natural hazards, energy supply, managing transport issues and problem gambling are among the issues to be tackled next week at the 2005 Conference of the New Zealand Association for Impact Assessment.

The conference, at Te Papa on 28-29 April, will address a range of issues of significance for New Zealand's communities and economy.

The conference will also discuss the relationship between legislation, impact assessment and effects on communities.

A number of well-known speakers including Jeanette Fitzsimmons, Dr Bruce Hucker, Molly Melhuish, Professor Ralph Sims, Roy Hemmingway and Wayne Donnelly will take part in the conference.

Prior to the conference, on 26-27 April, NZAIA member Rob Quigley is leading a two-day training course on health impact assessment. Further information is available from rob.quigley@qra.co.nz or 04 386 3557.
