CMJ traffic bulletin: Saturday 29 May until Thursday 2 June

Transit New Zealand would like to advise motorists of proposed closures for work on the Central Motorway Junction upgrade over the next week.

CMJ Stage 1

Ramp and link closures:

Sunday 29 and Monday 30 May – CLOSED – overnight from 8pm until 6am the following morning:

· Gillies Ave on-ramp (SH1 northbound)

· Symonds St off-ramp (SH1 northbound)

· Wellesley St off-ramp (SH1 northbound)

· Port off-ramp (SH1 northbound)

Sunday 29 until Wednesday 1 June – CLOSED – overnight from 8pm until 6am the following morning:

· Gillies Ave off-ramp (SH1 southbound)

Sunday 29 until Thursday 2 June – CLOSED – overnight from 8pm until 6am the following morning:

· Khyber Pass on-ramp (SH1 southbound)

CMJ Stage 2

Full motorway closures:

Sunday 29 until Thursday 2 June – CLOSED – overnight from 9pm until 5am the following morning:

· Southern Motorway (SH1) southbound between Cook St off-ramp and Hobson St on-ramp

· Southern Motorway (SH1) northbound between Nelson St off-ramp and Wellington St on-ramp

Sunday 29 until Thursday 2 June – CLOSED – overnight from 10pm until 5am the following morning:

· Southern Motorway (SH1) northbound between Symonds / Port / Wellesley off-ramp and Wellington St on-ramp

Ramp and link closures:

Sunday 29 May – CLOSED – during the day and overnight from 5am until 5.00am on Monday:

· Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Nelson St off-ramp

Sunday 29 until Thursday 2 June – CLOSED – overnight from 9pm until 5am the following morning:

· Port to Northwestern Motorway (SH16 westbound) link

· Southern Motorway (SH1) citybound to Nelson St off-ramp

· Hobson St on-ramp westbound to the Northwestern Motorway (SH16)

· Northwestern Motorway to the Southern Motorway (SH16 to SH1 southbound) link

· Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Nelson St off-ramp citybound

· Northwestern Motorway to Port (SH16) port-bound link

· Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Newton Rd off-ramp (citybound)

· Western Springs on-ramp eastbound to the Northwestern Motorway (SH16)

Note: That on the nights that the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Newton Rd off-ramp is closed the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Nelson St off-ramp will remain open and vice versa.

During these times motorists are requested to follow the signposted detours while the closures are in operation.

Transit New Zealand regrets any inconvenience caused.

In the event of inclement weather, the closures will be postponed to the next fine evening.

The CMJ Project

Stage 1 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project, completed in January 2005, covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen St over-bridge and Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps.

Stage 2 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project extends from Bond St on the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to the interface with CMJ Stage 1 near Symonds St and from Cook St on the Southern Motorway (SH1) to Symonds St.

Project information centre: 13-19 Howe St, Freeman’s Bay, Monday to Friday

9.00am – 4.30pm, Saturday 10:00am – 12:00pm and the first Sunday of each month 10:00am – 12:00pm.
