Wellington Woman Wins Use of Environmentally Friendlier Car For A Year

Be the Difference programme member, Tina Morrison, with the environmentally friendlier Honda Civic Hybrid that she will be driving for the next twelve months.

For the next twelve months Wellington woman, Tina Morrison, will be driving an ultra-low emission Honda Civic Hybrid, after winning the use of the environmentally friendlier car in a promotion run by Greater Wellington during May and June. Hybrid vehicles combine a petrol engine with an electric motor and produce less than 2% of the exhaust emissions that the average New Zealand car produces.

The Hybrid prize was presented to Tina Morrison yesterday by Ian Buchanan, Chairman of Greater Wellington and Graeme Meyer, Marketing Manager of Honda New Zealand. The prize draw was made from new and existing members of Greater Wellington’s Be the Difference programme at 7 June 2005.

Ian Buchanan, Chairman of Greater Wellington says “We were pleased with the high level of interest in the Hybrid promotion with nearly 5000 new members joining the Be the Difference programme, bringing total membership numbers to 12,300 households.”

“Greater Wellington is delighted to have formed this partnership with Honda New Zealand. As well as providing the Hybrid prize, Honda is showing its commitment to the environment of the Wellington region by funding 9500 native trees to be planted this year. These trees will significantly assist Greater Wellington with its biodiversity restoration work.”
