Who wants a rainy school holiday?

14 July 2005

Who wants a rainy school holiday with rubbish everywhere and the kids making a helluva racket?

“WE DO,” says TV2 KidsFest!

The forecast for Saturday says showers and a 10°C southerly. A forecast that is perfect for one of the strangest orchestral events ever held in the Christchurch Town Hall complex.

Kids are being encouraged to make musical instruments out of junk, trash, rubbish – whatever – and bring them along to suburban “music classes” tutored by the popular Christchurch percussion band, Pandemonium.

And on Saturday afternoon at 2pm, all the kids come together at the Limes Room of the Town Hall to perform as the first-ever Trash Orchestra.

This is one of the free events run in the TV2 KidsFest winter holiday programme which concludes next Friday with the Christchurch Wizard School of Public Performance on stage in Cathedral Square from 12 Noon to 1pm.

Remaining suburban session times: Friday 15 July, Mt Pleasant Community Centre at 2pm.

Major performance Saturday 16 July, Limes Room, Town Hall, 2pm.

Event is for 7 years and over. Caregiver required.
