Press Release: Rodney District Council
6 October 2005
Genesis Energy's Project Kaipara The
Council's Position
The Rodney District Council has been
asked to consider a change to the District Plan to
facilitate a proposal by Genesis Energy for a gas-fuelled
power station in west Rodney.
A decision by the council
whether to approve a change to the District Plan will be
determined only after a detailed proposal from Genesis
Energy is received and consultation with the local community
and other affected parties takes place.
In the interim,
the Rodney District Council is preparing its own detailed
report on sustainable energy for Rodney.
That report,
which is due in December, is expected to provide a strategic
direction and a set of sustainable energy options and
assessments for the Council to consider.
