Press Release: Christchurch City Council
6 October 2005
Council cycle lane moratorium not yet
lifted
The Christchurch City Council today decided against
lifting a moratorium on Council cycle way works, to further
examine issues about cycle lane use and safety.
The
moratorium only covers capital works involving cycle lane
tenders, so the Council remains committed to encouraging
cycling under its existing Cycling Strategy.
Cycling
promotions will continue along with education programmes to
support this.
