Contribution of Christchurch's youth workers to be celebrated
Christchurch City Council and the Canterbury Youth Workers' Collective are holding a celebration on Wednesday to mark the substantial contribution made to the community of its longstanding youth workers.
The contribution of youth workers with more than five years on the job will be marked. Deputy Mayor Carole Evans will present each with a certificate of appreciation and she and collective manager John Harrington will speak.
Shailer Hart, the City Council's community advisor for youth, says youth workers have a positive impact on the lives of many young people in the city. "Their excellent work and commitment is often not well understood," Mr Hart says.
