Rodney District Council to Survey Beach Water

Rodney District Council to Survey Beach Water Quality Service for Summer

The Beach Water Quality Survey for Rodney District Council began this week on Wednesday and will continue throughout the summer season until April 2006.

Monitoring will be carried out by helicopter mid week and results updated on the Council website www.rodney.govt.nz every Friday throughout the summer.

The website will show results and state if the beach is safe to swim in terms of water quality.

There is also an 0800 number - 0800 SAFE SWIM that provides information about Rodney, Auckland City and North Shore City beaches.

This summer, Martins Bay has been added to the programme. 15 beaches in Rodney will be surveyed, says Environmental Health Manager Ian Farrell.

ENDS.
