New Railway tourist attraction launched in Upper Hutt today
-turning the sod.
A new railway project was officially
launched in Upper Hutt today on the same day as the 50th
year celebration of last trip on the old Rimutaka Incline
Railway.The Incline Railway Trust have a four stage plan to
open a new Incline Rail link from Upper Hutt to
Featherston.Stage one was clearly established today at
Maymorn Railway Station.Mayor Wayne Guppy and MP Paul Swain
turned the first sod and drove pegs in to mark the proposed
new rail way line.
Berl research company have reported the
line could attract 40,000 passengers per
annum.
