CYF Starts Community Consultation at YJ Central
"Child,
Youth and Family staff have started public consultation on
the site which has been selected for consideration for the
new youth justice residential centre in the central North
Island.
The site being considered is a 19-hectare site at
Te Waerenga Road, off State Highway 36, in Rotorua.
In
response to community wishes, the department has agreed to
extend the consultation period for the proposed site until
18 March 2006. Consultation was originally planned to finish
on 4 February 2006.
Parallel to the consultation process,
Child, Youth and Family has also agreed to meet with
community members who are suggesting alternative sites for
consideration.
