Curator
Christchurch City Council and the scientific
community have lost one of their most important contributors
to ecology and plant science with the passing of Dr David
Given, last night. Dr Given, who died after a short illness,
was recognised nationally and internationally for his work.
The Council would like to pay tribute to the contribution
he made during his time as Botanical Services Curator,
particularly in the last year, when he wrote a large part of
the draft masterplan, setting a long term vision for Hagley
Park and the Botanic Gardens.
David will be missed by
his Botanic Gardens and Council colleagues who wish to
express their sincere sympathy to his family and friends.

The Government has guaranteed that every New Zealander will have access to the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, after securing an additional 8.5 million doses, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced today.
