Tests positive, so warnings continue

Tests for blue-green algae toxins in the Waikanae and Otaki rivers have
shown traces and tests on samples of the algae itself have shown clearer
signs that cyanotoxins are present.

However, the levels are very low.

We continue to warn people on the Kapiti Coast to refrain from swimming
in the rivers and to make sure animals and children are kept under
control and out of the river.

We will be placing some warning signs at the entrance to the most
popular park and recreational areas alongside the Waikanae River before
this weekend.
