Relaxing Weather For Wellington Anniversary

Relaxing Weather For Wellington Anniversary Weekend

MetService meteorologists are forecasting mainly fine weather for Wellington’s anniversary weekend.

“A cold front brought windy conditions to Wellington on Wednesday with gusts to about 100 km/hr about the airport and hills”, commented MetService Weather Ambassador, Bob McDavitt. “This frontal system is being followed by a large anticyclone, so the weather will be relaxing for the Wellington holiday weekend, with mainly fine weather and light winds.”

McDavitt went on to say that a weak trough is likely to pass over the Wellington area at some stage on Sunday afternoon, preceded by a period of gusty northerly winds and maybe accompanied by a few showers.

“The Wellington city area has had less rain than normal so far this year, so these gusty and dry northerly winds will exacerbate the fire risk.”
