No-dive zone imposed on F69 shipwreck

The weekend’s storm – a one-in-fifty year weather event - has broken the F69 in two.

Damage to the F69 Wellington is being monitored by the Sink F69 Trust, with Police divers evaluating damage to the vessel.

Captain Mike Pryce, Regional Harbourmaster has declared a prohibited area of 200 metres around the site for both anchoring and diving. Mike says this is effective from 3.00pm today until noon on Thursday 16 March – unless reviewed prior to this date. “There is no navigational risk but a large number of divers explore the wreck and we need to be sure the F69 is still a safe place to dive.”
