Fluoridation referendum is democracy in action

“The move by Hamilton Mayor Michael Redman to hold a binding council referendum on the fluoridation of the public water supply is a fine example of real democracy in action” said Stephnie de Ruyter, Leader of the Democrats for social credit.

Ms de Ruyter noted that binding citizens initiated referenda is Democrats for social credit policy and stated that the Party opposes fluoridation of public water supplies.

“Fluoridation of public water supplies amounts to compulsory mass medication” Ms de Ruyter said. “The benefits of fluoridation have been grossly overstated and the harmful effects ignored.

“Mayor Redman’s initiative has raised the bar for local politicians.

“Vesting the right to make an informed choice in the people of Hamilton is sound democratic process. It reflects the Mayor’s commitment to serving his community by seeking then fairly representing their views. Wise local body politicians will follow his example” Ms de Ruyter concluded.
