Community group funding available

Community group funding available

Auckland City is inviting applications from community groups for this year’s community board local fund.

Each of Auckland City’s 10 community boards has $25,000 available to distribute to community groups. Applications for funding will be accepted from 12 June and funding closes on 14 July.

Grants can cover a wide range of needs from staff training and new initiatives, to promotion and small equipment purchases.
To be eligible for funding, the projects must take place between 1 October 2006 and 30 September 2007.

Auckland City’s manager of community resourcing, Heather Owen, says “We welcome applications from all eligible community groups who can show that their project or activity will build on the resources available to their communities.
“Community groups make a major contribution to our city. This additional funding will enable groups to expand on their existing work.”

Each year about 150 community, arts, cultural and social service groups benefit from the Auckland City Local Community Board Funding. Groups receiving funding in 2005 included Women's Refuge Auckland, Waiheke Tiny Tots Groovers Group, Sea Education Aotea Charitable Trust, and Chinese New Settlers Services Trust.

Interested community groups are invited to attend one of our free information sessions to learn more about the application process and what will be funded.

The sessions are being held at:
