PRESS RELEASE - 21 June 2006

New Zealand Music Radio Milestone

New Zealand music and info station - VISION 100 FM Palmerston North & Vision100.com IM Radio - hit a milestone today, with its 2,500th broadcast day and scheduled songs now totally 900,000 played.

Founder Grant Seton said "we'll do a little ra ra today and enjoy some soup and toast".

The station initially started on the Net on 17 August 1999, commencing from good technology changes and lower broadcast and compliance costs, compared to current costs and compliance for FM spectrum.

Listener numbers is now bang on 50% from within New Zealand, a figure that has risen steadily over the years, likely due to increased awareness, popularity, and increasing broadband uptake in New Zealand.

The top 10 countries where listeners are tuning in, via the Net, from: New Zealand, United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Germany, China, Japan, France, and Netherlands. 'Other' countries make up 13% of listeners.

VISION 100 started taking advantage of local FM on 100.0 (from licence holder SOUND NOETZ) starting in 2003. An additional central support office within Palmy's CBD opened in 2005.

Further development of its local FM is still needed. "Development to increase its free to air coverage locally will depend on Government cooperation and business demand," stated Mr Seton.

The station's Head Office is still in Palmerston North. The station has a small team, but only a quarter of staff now live within Palmerston North city and Manawatu district.

VISION 100 is a 100% NZ owned & operated media company - established 1998 in Palmerston North city, Manawatu district, New Zealand.
