The art of networking

The art of networking

Auckland City is hosting a networking event designed to benefit Auckland’s not-for-profit community groups.

The event will be an opportunity for community groups to share their experiences and hear expert advice from representatives from the not-for-profit sector.

Guest speakers will include: Tina Reid, Executive Director of NZ Federation of Voluntary Welfare Organisations; Christine Herzog, co-ordinator of the Treaty Resource Centre and Jennifer Marget from Otara Community Network.

Presentations will look at the value of networking and give practical tips on building relationships that will be beneficial to your organisation.

The event is one of a number of projects that are being developed by Auckland City to help strengthen community networks.

Heather Owen, Auckland City’s community resourcing manager, says “Networking isn’t just for big business it is important that all organisations develop and sustain relationships with their key stakeholders. Not-for-profit organisations rarely get the opportunity to meet and share information.

“This event will enable them to make useful contacts and enhance their organisations’ ability to meet the needs of the local community.”

The event takes place at 9.30am-3.30pm, Tuesday 11 July in Royal Oak, Auckland. The event is open to all not-for-profit community groups based in Auckland City and costs $20 per person.

For further details contact: Darian Smith on 09 353 9671 or email darian.smith@auckland city.govt.nz or download a registration form at www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/community.
