Fire Service can add little to Stanlake mystery

Anthony Stanlake, the man found dead in Owhiro Bay at the weekend, was a firefighter in Wellington in the 80s and 90s.

Police have released information about Mr Stanlake, known as Tony, including that he was firefighter for 23 years.

Nothing about Mr Stanlake’s work history is recorded on the Fire Service’s National Headquarters HR database, but he is known to have worked in a number of Wellington stations including City station, Karori and Northland, and is thought to have made the rank of station officer.

He has not been a firefighter for about ten years.
