Submissions due to close on gaming machines policy

People have until Friday to make their submissions on the Council’s proposed gaming machines policy.

Over 200 submissions have been received to date on the Council’s proposed Gaming Venues and TAB Policy, which aims to relax the existing policy to allow any premises with a Sale of Liquor licence and designated gaming area, to operate gaming machines.

‘There has been strong interest in this issue, both in the media and as evidenced by the number of submissions received’, says Council policy analyst Heike Lulay.

Once all the submissions have been received, their content will be analysed in preparation for further consideration by the Council.

Submitters have the opportunity to present their views in person to the Council in a series of hearings, likely to take place in August. The Council will then consider its policy further.
