Get your entries in for Environmental Awards

Thursday 21 September 2006

Still time to get your entries in for Environmental Awards

Do you know an environmental hero? If so, there’s still time to put their name in for this year’s Environment Bay of Plenty Environmental Awards – but you’d better be quick.

Entries for the annual awards close on Friday 6 October, with an awards ceremony to be held in Whakatane in November.

This year’s awards have five categories. They are for individuals, community groups, educational organisations, businesses and media, with prizes of up to $1000 up for grabs.

“They’re a great chance to reward people who are getting out there and doing great work for our environment,” says Environment Bay of Plenty chief executive Bill Bayfield.

“So many people, groups and organisations are doing wonderful things for the Bay of Plenty environment. We want to make sure they’re acknowledged and rewarded for it.”

Examples of work that could be nominated include environmental education, coastal planting, or pest control work.

It’s easy to enter – just fill in the entry form, attach photographs and evidence to support the entry, and send it to Environment Bay of Plenty. Entry forms are available from Environment Bay of Plenty offices, or by calling 0800 ENV BOP (368 267) or on www.envbop.govt.nz.
