Busy Weekend for Westpac Rescue Helicopter

Busy Weekend for Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter

The crew of the Auckland based Westpac Rescue Helicopter went to eight missions over the weekend – in less than 40 hours. The missions ranged from a medical condition on Kawau Island to a motor vehicle accident in Paeroa.

Paramedic Bruce Kerr was on roster for seven of the eight missions and described the weekend as “frantic”.

“It’s the nature of being a paramedic in an emergency services profession – every day is different and you never know what to expect”, said Mr Kerr.

Marketing Communications Manager Kelle Taylor says that the sheer volume of missions demonstrates the importance of fundraising to keep the rescue helicopter in operation.

“I’m sure the seven accident and medical missions the crew performed made a significant difference to the patients and families involved.

Weekends like this just goes to show that the hard work of our dedicated team of fundraisers really does pay off”, said Miss Taylor.
