2006/07 Immediate Response Crime Safety Funding grants

More than $20,000 toward community safety and anti-crime measures was granted to Manukau organisations recently.

Manukau City Council’s Community Safety Committee has awarded the following grants from the Immediate Response Crime Safety Fund.

- $6000 to the Botany Crime Watch Patrol Trust for vehicle and administration costs

- $2875 to the Turehou Maori Wardens Ki Otara Charitable Trust for safety equipment

- $6484 to the Mangere East Maori Wardens for security screens and an alarm for their base located in the car park at Mangere Town Centre

- $6000 to the Otara Bluelight Police team to purchase a trailer/barbeque to be used at neighbourhood support, community patrols and youth events, as well as sausage sizzle fundraisers.

The purpose of the fund, administered by council’s Safe Communities Team, is to facilitate immediate response to crime and safety issues that unexpectedly arise in Manukau.
