Council starts replacement process

At its meeting this morning the Kapiti Coast District Council agreed a process to replace current Chief Executive Mark Dacombe who recently resigned to take up a new position in central Government.

Mr Dacombe will leave the Council on January 12, 2007.

As part of the process the Council has appointed Group Manager Development Projects, Kevin Jefferies, to the role of Acting Chief Executive to cover the period from January 12, 2007 until a new appointee is able to take up the role.

The Council also agreed to appoint a consultant skilled in the recruitment of senior public sector appointees to assist with the process.

“Personally and for the Council, the news that Mark Dacombe is moving on is certainly very sad,” Mayor Alan Milne said.

“However, we have to look on the bright side. This is a great opportunity for Mark. We compliment him on this at the same time as we express our appreciation for his significant contribution to the Coast and the Council over the last 5½ years.

“We now need to move on and to find a replacement who can take us onward and lead the Council organisation.

“During the transition period the Council is confident that Kevin Jefferies will keep a steady hand on the helm,” Mr Milne said.
