Join the trail of Kev the Wandering Kiwi

Fancy a scramble along a waterfall track and a few fun stream crossings? It’s all part of the ‘Kev the Wandering Kiwi’ adventure walk along Dry Creek in Belmont Regional Park.

The guided walk – organised by Greater Wellington Regional Council as part of its summer Regional Outdoors Programme – takes place on Thursday 25 January.

Jason Barclay, Greater Wellington’s new ranger for Belmont Regional Park, says the walk is great for all the family and a lot of fun.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to explore a hidden gem – it feels like you’re miles from anywhere – and kids get to meet Kev the Wandering Kiwi.”

Jason says some parts of the route follow a stream bed and participants can expect to get their feet wet.

“The track is pretty rough and ready so it’s an exciting challenge for people of all ages and abilities. Our staff will be there to help – just make sure you wear shorts and sturdy shoes!”

When: Thursday 25 January, 10am – 12pm.

Where: Belmont Regional Park, Dry Creek entrance. Dry Creek is near the intersection of SH2 and SH58 (Haywards Hill Road) or it’s a 10-minute walk from Manor Park Station.

What to bring: Sturdy shoes, shorts, a towel, a warm jacket, sun protection, drinks and snacks.

Bookings: no bookings required.
