Last Greater Christchurch UDS Submissions

Press release 7 March 2007 1 page

Last Greater Christchurch Urban Development Strategy submissions to be heard

Final submissions on the Greater Christchurch Urban Development Strategy will be heard tomorrow, from 2pm to 3pm, at Our City O-Tautahi, corner of Worcester Boulevard and Oxford Terrace.

Of about 70 submissions heard by the UDS Joint Councils Committee since 26 February, most of them have been in support of the Draft Greater Christchurch Urban Development Strategy.

The Joint Councils Hearings Panel is made up of: UDS Forum chair, Bob Parker, and three representatives each from UDS Council partners: Christchurch City, Selwyn and Waimakariri District Councils, and Environment Canterbury.

About 80 per cent of the 400 submitters to the Strategy indicated they wanted to be heard in person, but some submitters did not turn up to the hearings. Submissions were heard over six days, including two full days.

A summary of the 400 submissions have been made available on the official www.greaterchristchurch.org.nz website for the Strategy.

The Joint Councils Hearings Panel must now consider all submissions received (including those who chose to be heard) and recommend what amendments are needed to the Strategy, as the result of submissions, before making recommendations to the UDS partners for adoption in April.
