Matarawa Station - temporary closure - from Thursday 17 May - 4 June
We advised passengers last week that they would be able to board and disembark the new Metlink train at this station using the wheelchair hoist. However, following a further review of the construction work at the station and the operation of the wheelchair hoist, it has been decided for safety reasons that the station will be temporarily closed from 7.30am on Thursday 17 May until 4 June 2007. The morning services prior to 7.30am on 17 May will stop as normal at Matarawa station.
The temporary closure of the station will allow the construction of the new platform to be completed as quickly as possible. Please use either Woodside or Carterton station during this period. If you currently commute from Matarawa and intend to travel from Woodside you can obtain a partial refund of your May monthly ticket from the Tranz Metro office at Wellington Station.
Renall Street Station - temporary closure - 14 May - early June
Due to essential platform work to enable easier access to the new Metlink Wairarapa trains, this station will be temporarily closed from Monday 14 May until early June. The exact completion date is weather dependant. Please use Masterton or Solway station during this period.
Upgrades to other Wairarapa station platforms - 14 May to end of August 2007
Platform work will take place at other Wairarapa stations until the end of August 2007. Disruptions will be kept to a minimum. We will keep you updated on progress.
We apologise for the short notice of the station closures and for any inconvenience this causes. These improvements will help to ensure a better train experience is on its way.
