Arts forum for Mayoral candidates
Arts forum for Mayoral candidates
Nelson and Tasman Mayoral candidates will have their views on arts and heritage under the spotlight at a forum on Monday at the Suter Theatre.
Organised by the Nelson Heritage Advisory Group and Nelson Bays Arts Marketing the forum will be chaired by local artist and arts and heritage advocate Anne Rush.
She says the next term of council is critical if Nelson is to live up to its reputation as an arts centre.
"The large number of submissions to the council plans this year showed people's interest and concern about arts and heritage," she said. "We want to hear how the mayoral candidates respond on some key issues. Through planning and decisions on infrastructure, councils have the opportunity to make a big contribution to the arts, heritage and sense of place in the city and the region."
The forum at the Suter starts at 5.30pm on Monday. Mayoral candidates will be given five minutes to outline the issues they see as important relating to heritage and arts. After that there will be time for questions from the floor.
The forum is open to all and there is no entry charge.
