Injured Forestry Worker Flown To Wgtn Hospital

Injured Forestry Worker Flown To Wellington Hospital

The Wellington-based Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called out this morning to a 48yr old male forestry worker who had been struck by a tree.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter responded with a Wellington Free Paramedic on board at about 0845.

The forestry worker's location prevented the helicopter from landing, so instead the pilot got close enough to the ground for the paramedic to perform a "hover-off".

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter landed at a different location whilst the patient was placed on a stretcher.

He was flown direct to Wellington Hospital's Emergency Department with suspected chest, shoulder and upper arm injuries.

No other details are available at this time.
