12 DECEMBER 2007

Double Fatality Near Mangere;

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating the cause of a double fatality on George Bolt Drive tonight.

Police say the crash happened just after 9.00pm on Wednesday 12 December 2007

Its understood that a Silver Altezza Saloon travelling towards the airport on George Bolt Drive has suddenly veered onto an oncoming lane and crashed into an SUV heading in city direction.

A male and a female in each of the two vehicles are deceased.

Another male and a female who were occupants in the vehicles are in serious condition in Middlemore Hospital. Both the injured were transported to hospital by ambulance.

The crash happened on George Bolt Drive near the intersection with Ihumatau Road.

Police are seeking witnesses to the crash. Anyone who has seen a Silver Altezza Saloon being driven on George Bolt Drive in the direction of the airport at about 9.00pm tonight is asked to contact the Serious Crash Unit at the Harbour Bridge Police.

Full details of the crash are still being determined. Next of kin are yet to be notified.
