RDC Announces New CEO

RDC Announces New CEO

The Rodney District Council is pleased to announce the appointment of its new chief executive.

He is Rodger Kerr-Newell, the present chief executive of the New Plymouth District Council.

Rodney’s mayor Penny Webster says she is delighted with the appointment of Mr Kerr-Newell, describing him as an exceptional executive with a no-nonsense approach and a can do attitude.

She says the main challenge facing Mr Kerr-Newell will be managing Rodney’s growth, which has been rapid in recent years and shows no sign of slowing she says.

“New Plymouth has been in a very similar situation, and Rodger has handled that superbly well. He brings that expertise and that’s exactly what we’re looking for,” says Mrs Webster.

She says the position (for CEO)  was strongly contested by several excellent candidates, reflecting the importance of the Rodney District within the Auckland region, its growth potential and the challenges it faces

Mr Kerr-Newell is expected to take up his new position at the end of February, replacing Vijaya Vaidyanath who is moving to the Waitakere City Council as its chief executive.
