Northern Pegasus Bay Draft Coastal Management Plan

Do you enjoy the beaches
or coastal area of northern Pegasus Bay? This is the area
from the mouth of the Waimakariri River to “The Rocks”
north of the Waipara river mouth.
If you care about this area or even just one part of it, read the Northern Pegasus Bay draft coastal management plan.
The draft plan has been written by a group of elected community, local iwi, commercial, district and regional council representatives, following meetings and much discussion for more than a year.
“We would like to encourage anyone with any interest in this area to tell us their views,” says Debbie Jefcoate, Chairperson, Steering Committee, Northern Pegasus Bay Coastal Management Plan.
“Anyone can make a submission whether it’s on specific recommendations, particular beach and estuary locations, or the plan as a whole,” she says.
Community meetings are being held leading up to the feedback deadline: Friday, February 29, so people have the opportunity to discuss the plan.
