Attempt Made To Lift School Girl's Skirt

New Zealand Police Wellington News Release

5:40pm 19 February 2008

Porirua Police are seeking public help to find a man who attempted to lift the skirt of a school girl as she walked home in Tawa last week.

Police say the 12-year-old girl reacted swiftly when a male Indian, aged about 40 years, tried to lift her skirt as she walked along Franklyn Road, Tawa, shortly after 4pm on Tuesday, 12 February.

The student flicked the man's hand away. He ran off in one direction and she ran home to alert police.

The man, who was of medium build, had black/grey hair and bushy eyebrows. He wore a brown wool vest and greyish coloured trousers.

If you saw someone like this in the Tawa area around the time of the incident, or have any information on who it might be, then please call Porirua Police on telephone: 238 1400 and ask for Detective Paul Fantham or Detective Sergeant Glenn Barnett.
