Ngaruroro River Irrigation Ban Back On

Ngaruroro River Irrigation Ban Back On

Hawke's Bay Regional Council is adding another irrigation ban from midnight tonight (31 March) to the Ngaruroro River which means the entire river is again under a ban.

The ban is for resource consents for irrigation takes linked to the Fernhill monitoring site and to the lowest consented flow level of 2400 litres/second.

Last week a ban was placed on consents linked to the 2800L/sec flow, showing how quickly the river levels are dropping.

The Ngaruroro River was under a complete ban in late February but this was lifted on 6 March after a period of rain.

Although there was light rain in some catchments over the weekend, it was not sufficient to influence river flows.
