WAIKATO POLICE DISTRICT

15 May 2008

Hamilton Police will be searching an area of Glenview today for clues to identify the offender and locate property taken during the overnight aggravated Robbery of a Hamilton Bus driver.

Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Page said that at about 6.15 pm the City Go-bus made a routine stop in Saxbys Road where the offender entered the bus and presented a knife at the driver demanding cash.

"He took the cashbox and then ran from the scene," said Mr Page.

"A Police dog tracked him into MacDonald Road but could not continue the track from there."

The female bus driver was not physically injured in the incident. There were no other passengers on the bus at the time.

The offender is described as a male Maori in his late teens.

He is of medium build, described as having a "wispy moustache" and wearing dark clothing and a bandana around his wrist.

Police are appealing to residents in the area to check their properties for any sign of the cashbox taken, and to report this to Police.

Any information can be reported to the Hamilton Police Station at 07 8586200
