Lots on at free youth event

Local talent Misfits of Science and Fast Crew headline Auckland City Council’s free That Thing in the Park youth event on Saturday, 31 May, from 11am to 4pm at Potters Park.

Five-member group Fast Crew, who have supported international artists such as Missy Elliott and Black Eyed Peas – and crowd-pleasing duo Misfits of Science, will take to the stage with other local groups, including MC Yo-Yo, False Start, Bulletproof and Band of Wesley.

As well as all day music and dance entertainment, there will be plenty of youth-related stalls and fun competitions, including Playstation game Singstar, and 3 on 3 basketball.

The event is during Youth Week (26 May to 1 June), an annual celebration which encourages young people to get involved in their communities, have a say, influence opinions, showcase their creativity and talent, share ideas, access information and have fun.

This year the event is delivered together with music event management and live sound students from the Music and Audio institute of New Zealand – along with support from Flava 96one.

Text THING to 2020, visit www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/events or phone 379 2020 for more information about the event, and visit www.youthweek.co.nzfor more information about Youth Week.
