Show your support for the Crusaders this Friday

28th May 2008

CHRISTCHURCH CITY COUNCIL MEDIA RELEASE

Show your support for the Crusaders this Friday, by taking part in Red and Black Day.

The Crusaders are heading into their ninth final in 13 Super rugby seasons this Saturday and the Council is calling on the whole of Christchurch to show their support for the team.

This Friday the Council is hosting an event in Cathedral Square to help celebrate Red and Black Day and the Crusaders.

From 11am there will be free face painting and giveaways in the Square and people can come along to sign the farewell to Robbie Deans banner. People will also be able to pick up some supplies of face paint for the kids to get into the red and black spirit on Saturday.

At midday you can see two of the Crusaders horses up close, while a Red and Black banner will fly over the city. At the same time a band from Vision College will perform an hour long concert.

The New Brighton Pier will also be helping the city show its true colours with the night lights set to red for the weekend.

At the Christchurch City Council staff will be getting into the spirit of Red and Black Day with staff dressing in their team's colours. The council is challenging all other organisations and local businesses to do the same and show their support for the Crusaders.
