Ashburton focus on Environment Enhancement Fund

Ashburton people will have the chance to find out more about how to apply for grants from ECan’s Environment Enhancement Fund, when a special display goes up in the Ashburton Library from June 3.

The fund is run by Environment Canterbury and resource care co-ordinator for the Mid Canterbury area, Melanie Schauer, says the display is being set up on Tuesday, June 3, to open the funding round for 2008.

Each year grants of up to $5000 are given to individuals and groups to help them carry out environmental projects that can range from wetland restoration to fencing off areas of native bush and native tree plantings.

The Ashburton display will have information about the fund and how to apply for a grant, and details of who to contact.

The fund is open from June 1 to August 31 each year and funding is announced in December.
