Christchurch Police expect to be conducting house to house inquiries until the weekend, after a woman in her 60's was assaulted and robbed by an intruder early yesterday morning in her home on Tyndale Street, Avonhead. The woman suffered moderate injuries.

Detective Sergeant Ross Tarawhiti says that the house examination should be completed later today.

"Obviously we are still continuing our area inquiries to locate anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area of Tyndale Street or the two walkways from Tyndale Place which give foot access to Godfrey Place and Corfe Street," he says.

Detective Sergeant Ross Tarawhiti says that police are still appealing for anyone who was in the area or passing through at around that time to contact him.

"This was a serious incident and we do need the assistance of the public to find the person responsible. Some one will know who the offender is and we need to locate them as soon as possible."

"We are also asking residences to search their properties for anything that may have been discarded or left behind by the fleeing offender."

The Police specialist search team has been deployed in the area to assist with this search of Tyndale Place.

"We'd like to talk with anyone who may have been walking or driving through, or happened to be awake or looked outside. They may have seen a person or vehicle that caught their eye," he says.
