Weather Weakens Book Collections
Stormy weather in Wellington has hit Book Fair banners advertising collections for Downtown Community Ministry’s big annual fundraiser.
DCM
Director Stephanie McIntyre says, “We’re pretty sure
that two of the banners have gone AWOL due to the incredibly
strong winds we’ve had lately. This means fewer people may
have heard about the collections.
“It’s frustrating too because these banners were newly made for this year with more colour to attract more books for the fair. Now we’re worried people haven’t heard that we need their books, dvds, cds and vinyl records.
“It’s important to get this message out because we only have four weeks of collections to go.
“We need people to spread the word around their friends and workplaces. They can run their own collection at their workplace and we’ll collect them.
“People love coming to the Book Fair and DCM
volunteers put in a tremendous amount of effort to make it
happen.
“The Book Fair is important to us because
it raises a significant amount of funds that go towards
supporting our work with people in need.”
