Council seeks nominations for community awards

Wellington International Airport, in partnership with The Community Trust of Wellington and Wellington City Council, is seeking nominations for community groups in the capital that have worked to make the city a better place to live.

The Wellington Airport Community Awards celebrate the achievements of not-for-profit community groups which have made valuable contributions to Wellington's social and cultural fabric.

The Council's Social Portfolio Leader, Councillor Ngaire Best says the awards are great way to highlight the outstanding work done by community groups around the city.

"Any volunteer-based groups working in the interests of the Wellington city community are eligible for the award and people are more than welcome to nominate their own groups."

The winners of each category will receive $500 and then join winners from the other local authorities in the region at a function to be held at Wellington Airport.
