Peketa Settlement Evacuating
The Kahutara River has burst its banks and is now threatening to flood the Peketa settlement, just south of Kaikoura. The river has not yet entered the settlement however emergency services are advising residents to self evacuate. The heavy rain has eased however emergency services are concerned about the current level of the river.
