Incident type: Missing pipeline worker

Search and rescue personnel are continuing to search for the pipeline worker who went missing from a workboat off the coast of Christchurch last night. There are currently 10 Coastguard vessels searching an area extending from the Waimakariri River in the north to Godley Head and Little Akaroa in the south and from shore to approximately 12 miles to sea.

The weather is improving and it is likely that a fixed wing aircraft will resume the search this afternoon.

The name of the deceased is Jody Dallas Campbell aged 29 who has recently been living in Christchurch.

No further details are available at this time.
