Ribbon to be Cut on Camberley Community Centre

Ribbon to be Cut on Camberley Community Centre

Twenty years after the dream of a Camberley Community Centre was mooted, it is now a reality.

Over recent years Camberley residents have been using the Camberley School hall for community events and meetings but on Saturday the new Camberley Community Centre will open its doors to the community.

With a combined effort from Te Ora Hou Hawke’s Bay, Hastings District Council, Eastern & Central Community Trust and the Lotteries Commission a church hall relocated from Te Aute Road has been transformed, with decks, parking and administration space.

Starting at 10am Hastings Mayor Lawrence Yule will cut the ribbon on the centre, followed by speeches from local Kaumatua Jerry Hapuku and Joe Northover, Camberley School principal Peter Johnstone and Camberley Committee members.

After official proceedings the Camberley Annual Festival Event or CAFÉ will welcome families to a fun day at Kirkpatrick Park, where the new centre is.

From now on any Camberley residents wanting to use the centre can book either through Council on ph. 871 5000 or at the centre with Centre Administrator Lisa Halbert on Kiwi Street.
