New member elected for Shirley/Papanui Community

New member elected for Shirley/Papanui Community Board

Kathy Condon will be declared the new member of the Shirley/Papanui Community Board following the by-election on Tuesday, March 10.

Mrs Condon received 6,860 of the total 12,765 valid postal votes, the other candidates Karl Maddaford and Tim Heaver receiving 4,041 and 1,836 respectively. All candidates stood as independents for the vacancy, which came about after the resignation of  the Board’s chairperson, Megan Evans, last year

The next meeting of the Shirley/Papanui Community Board is scheduled for Tuesday 17 March, when Mrs Condon is expected to be sworn in.

The voter turnout for the election was 28.54 percent.
