Where is the cheapest bottle of milk in New Zealand? That’s what the authors of a frugal living book want to find out, and they are asking the public for help.
Frank Newman, author of the book Living Off the Smell of an Oily Rag in New Zealand says most people are not aware how much the price of milk varies.
“We know that the difference in price for two-litres of milk can be as much as $2. That adds up to hundreds of dollars a year for a family. People living on a limited budget, need to know that the price of the standard two litres of milk can vary quite considerably, even in their own town”, said Frank Newman.
“That’s why we are doing a nation-wide survey to find the cheapest and dearest price of milk. The one-minute survey can be completed online at www.oilyrag.co.nz.
“So far we have found that the cheapest price of two-litres of milk is $2.30 in Napier and the most expensive is $4.90 in Papakura.
“The results will be announced next month”, Frank Newman said.
